Rafael José Vieira is a medical doctor and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, holding a PhD in Clinical and Health Services Research. He is affiliated with the RISE-Health research unit, Cochrane Portugal, and the Portuguese GRADE Network. With over 80 peer-reviewed publications, his research spans health technology assessment, evidence synthesis, causal inference, and real-world data to inform healthcare decision-making. He has contributed to multiple clinical practice guidelines and is involved in methodological work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, planetary health, and guideline development.
