Evidence Synthesis Unit Lead / Cochrane Governing Board Member, Heinrich-Heine-University-Düsseldorf

Juan Franco is a family physician and researcher specialising in evidence-informed healthcare, with a focus on evidence synthesis and shared decision-making. He leads the Cochrane Evidence Synthesis Unit at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and serves as Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, Clinical Editor for The BMJ, Senior Editor of the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and a member of Cochrane’s Governing Board. His work has a particular focus on capacity strengthening, mentoring, and fostering diverse international collaborations. He has led several initiatives within the Cochrane Mentoring Programme and is committed to supporting the development of the next generation of evidence synthesis researchers.
